One virtue I could use some more of

It's a new year, but before I let you in on what I'll be up to this year, I want to share with you one virtue I have been forced to learn over the last couple of months.

That virtue is patience. Lots and lots of patience. And, as my 5-year-old little cousin Ethan said while stuck in traffic on our way to see Santa a few days before Christmas, "I am not a patient man."

(That's Ethan there in the back.)

Sometimes, as Ethan learned begrudgingly, we have to be patient.

There is literally nothing we can do to change our circumstances. Sure, we can control, to some extent, what circumstances in which we find ourselves. But once we are already in a situation, sometimes we must just accept the reality that we are powerless.

I can't get into the specifics of the exact circumstances that have demanded patience from me. All I can do at this moment is to accept where I am and make the most of it. So, I'll leave you with a challenge.

Instead of telling you the new things I'm up to in 2018, I'll ask you to wait until my next blog post (I won't leave you hanging too long).

Until then, take a minute to think about how in the past you have handled situations beyond your control in which you had to practice patience. Find me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to tell me how you got through it. I can't wait to hear!
