The weekend's controversies

Believe it or not, February is already almost over. Next Friday is March 1.
I know February is the shortest month of the year, and it has definitely gone faster than January did.
Thankfully February is almost over though because this month's news cycle and controversies have been dumb in new ways. Usually controversies aren't really that offensive to me, but the one I'll speak on in this post is kind of offensive.
If you haven't heard by now, it's being reported that "Empire" star Jussie Smollett hired two Nigerian brothers to attack him in Chicago while wearing MAGA hats. If you haven't heard this story, go google it because the story could explain it better than I can for the simple fact of details.
The only important detail is that he hired two Nigerian guys to wear MAGA hats and make it look like two racist guys attacked a black guy in Chicago. It's beyond me. I don't understand why Smollett isn't in some serious legal trouble. I'm hoping he is because this is asinine.
Usually I don't care about these kinds of stories because a couple of things come to mind - 1. It's a distraction from actual important news. 2. It'll blow over and won't matter in a couple days.
Well, this story covers quite a bit of what today's news talks about - hate speech, racism, Hollywood hypocrisy, Trump supporters minding their own business interested in living a quiet life while enjoying the second amendment and low taxes.
The other baffling detail of this story is how much the media was on the actor's side and didn't even really try to get all the details. They allowed the actor to speak plenty, but they didn't get all the details, and they certainly didn't report accurately.
There were lots of missing details and it was all very shady until the real story came out and everyone realized it was all staged to make 75 percent of America look bad.
There are a lot of other political rumors circulating. So hopefully those rumors come to light and I can let you know what else is happening on Wednesday.
