Syrian Strikes

This weekend was emotionally brutal when it came to politics and foreign affairs. Most people were looking forward to enjoying some free time with their loved ones. However, if any of those people were actively keeping up with the news/presidential moves, any sort of buzzes were killed nation-wide on Friday night.
My twitter feed was blown up up with "Breaking News" alerts from reporters all over the country once the U.S., France and Great Britain had, in fact, sent missiles over to Syria in response to chemical attacks from Bashar Assad.
For those who are not aware, Bashar Assad is Syria's president and he has been gassing and using chemical weapons to kill his own people.
A lot of people around the country were very concerned and distraught that the United States was 1) getting so involved 2) sending more missiles.
Here is what I have come to understand about points 1 and 2 above.
The U.S. got involved because in the President's mind, it is utterly unspeakable what Assad and those behind him have done to his country. That being said, America must send a message that we will not accept when countries are killing their people for no reason.
Sending more, roughly double of what April of 2017's strikes were accounted for, was our way of making it very clear we will go to war if necessarily, but mostly, to stop killing everyone.
Keep an eye out for more posts regarding Syria and what President Trump orders the military to do, but for now, click here to read some of the weird things I know to be true about students in college.
