Pushing toward the goal

Unfortunately I am still having computer issues, which is why posts have been a little spotty. So, hang in there with me.

Today I'd like to discuss ways we can push toward the goal. By goal, I am talking about that one thing we are really working toward whether it be finding a job, finding motivation to clean a big project, or that one thing we need to complete that is becoming a huge task.

Goals are good. We need goals in our life to help us become a better version of ourselves. They can range from anything to making our beds in the morning, to not going out to eat all week, or paying off a debt we owe. Sometimes setting goals helps us learn life lessons, sometimes they teach us something we didn't know we had within us. If we are really lucky, they can help inspire someone.

How do we achieve our goals? Below are four plans that might help you achieve that goal - big or small.

The first plan that comes to mind for me to is set them - write them down. If we write out our goals, that makes them an achievable reality.

Another way for us to achieve our goals is to figure out how much we really want to reach that goal? Do we really want that feeling of accomplishment of making our bed each morning? Do we really want to save money and choose a wiser lunch rather than spending money on fast food?

The third plan is for us to get an accountability partner. Sometimes they can be a nag, but that nag could become the inner voice you need to get one step closer to achieving your goal. Accountability partners don't have to ask you every day how your goals are coming. It can be a once a week or a once a month accountability. A lot of us need someone to force us to admit when we have lost track of the goal and to help our mindset.

The fourth way we can get better at achieving our goals is to finish little tasks during the day. One time I heard someone say, "if you finish what you started, you will have a high self esteem." I wish I could remember where I heard that, but it's true. The more we finish, the better we feel about ourselves.

So, instead of leaving your room a wreck before you leave for the day, make your bed and hang up those hangers. Instead of the drive-thru, go home and make a sandwich or eat leftovers. Instead of continuing to stay in debt, make a $20 payment each paycheck and you will have less debt.

Dave Ramsey likes to say, "Live like no one else so that later you can live like no one else."

This applies to money more than anything, but it also applies to literally everything in our lives.
