As we all know, Tuesday was the 17th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York City and The Pentagon.

There was coverage all day long on any given channel. People of influence posted on their social media accounts in remembrance of the Twin Towers, the first responders, where they recalled being when tragedy struck, and how brave the heroes were who did and did not make it out alive.

Today's post will be about where we are at as a country today.... 17 years later.

I wholeheartedly believe we are a more patriotic country now than we have ever been since 9/11. Vice President Pence gave a speech at The Pentagon on Tuesday and stated that five million people enlisted in the military after the attack.

Even though we elected Obama after 9/11, I believe today, right now, this country is more united and more patriotic than ever.

If you listen to too much of the news or read too much on the internet, you will disagree.

However, if you look around at the grocery store, at clothing stores, little league sports games, etc., you will agree with me that we, as a country, are trying to love ourselves and our neighbors better.

This isn't to say we are a perfect country because we certainly are not. We have come a long way and we have a long way to go, but we are moving in the right direction. It can be hard to see that when we get defeated by our own struggles week in and week out.

Let us continue to say something if we see something, spread kindness, think before we speak, and disagree kindly with each other.
