60 Minutes

Hello new week, hello new opportunities!
I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. Last time we were here, I gave some college-aged advice on how to get through the next few weeks.
On Friday night, ABC News aired an interview with First Lady Melania Trump, which I have not watched yet. Based off the promo they aired over it, they asked her about President Trump, his controversial immigration policy at the U.S.-Mexico border, and some of his other controversial actions.
Over the weekend, the Turkish court freed American pastor, Andrew Brunson, who met President Trump in the Oval Office right after getting off his plane.
Today, we will discuss the "60 Minutes" interview that aired Sunday night directly after the Dallas Cowboys beat the pants off of the Jacksonville Jaguars 40-7.
The ironic thing about this CBS interview is how one of their reporters wrote a fake story this summer about how Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was leaving her job at the White House.
This interview was also the first interview President Trump had given "60 Minutes" since becoming Commander-in-Chief. His last interview with them was two years ago when he was President-elect.
That being said, the interview was revealing, but in a way you may not be thinking about. Lesley Stahl mostly asked the president about his self-described friendships with Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un.
Stahl pressed into Trump about the Helsinki summit and why he claims he and Kim Jong-Un are "in love." There was also talk about China, trade, tariffs, the Russian investigation. Trump also revealed that he thought "people in Manhattan real estate were babies" compared to those of Washington saying how vicious people are.
Trump talked about the speculation of General Mattis leaving and wouldn't give anything away, but said Mattis might be a Democrat.
Above all the media rhetoric that took place during the interview, what I was most shocked and disappointed by was how much this president is trying to protect America and keep a fair playing ground between the U.S. and other countries, but "60 Minutes" was mostly concerned about what Trump says at rallies and about other world leaders.
Make some waves this week. Help someone you know register to vote via absentee.
