The Weekend Switch-Ups

Today begins the last full-week for Christmas shopping. So, you better get on it if you have a few presents left to buy!

It's been another quiet weekend on the political front. Friday, President Trump announced Mick Mulvaney as acting Chief of Staff. Mulvaney served as the Director of the Office Management and Budget. He will begin his new position at the beginning of the year.

According to a story in the National Review, "Mulvaney, a former Republican congressman from South Carolina, will take over from four-star general (John) Kelly."

In addition to this Friday evening announcement, a federal judge in Texas ruled the Affordable Care Act as "unconstitutional".

In another story in the National Review, "U.S. District Judge Reed O'Connor's decision stemmed from the fact that Republicans eliminated the individual mandate last year in their major tax overhaul."

Later the article states, "the ruling is expected to be appealed in the Supreme Court, however."

So, this news will certainly make for interesting commentary over the next five days by television personalities and politicians who make regular appearances.

It will also be interesting to see if there is any political action that takes place. I'm betting that nothing serious will happen until after the first of the year.

Aside from this drama, I sincerely hope you are able to get yourselves and your family ready for Christmas - whatever that looks like for you!
