A Red, White, and Blue Surprise

Happy Friday!! This is that week during the year where no one knows what day it is or where they are supposed to be.... unless you have to work. Then you don't know what day it is and are relying on your fried brain to remember where to be.

Last we spoke seems like a month ago, but it was just four days, and we discussed Secretary of Defense, James Mattis, and why it wasn't that big of deal.

Since then, as you can imagine, there has been a lot. We'll start with the three-hour "surprise" visit to Al Asad Air base in Iraq that President Trump, First Lady Melania, and senior administration officials took.

A few reminders about the position as Commander-in-Chief and company....

- Despite what the media tells you, there is a plan. I promise you Donald Trump is not doing things on a whim. I mean being the leader of the free world comes with a process, and there are actions taken that are planned. He doesn't do things to upset his "haters" or the media. He does them because they are what needs to be done.

- Military visits to Iraq - which was not a pleasant area to be when it comes to terrorism and safety - are planned. He did not decide Christmas Eve he "might as well" hop on a plane and visit soldiers in a very dangerous area in the middle east. There were weeks of preparation when it came to content of the meetings, safety, the schedule of the soldiers, etc.

- The media hates the Trump Administration and anyone who supports him and his agenda. They are going to say things that offend those of us who support him and who support the military, businesses, money, and anything else that have to do with regular Americans because they have nothing else to do and they are probably paid to do so by various means.

Now that I have explained that, let's discuss the complete and utter backlash that occurred when the president was in Iraq. I have been open (about a lot), but for sure my unwavering support for our Armed Forces. It's no secret that I have the upmost respect for those in uniform and the day in and day out sacrifices they make. I (try to) understand what they go through. Some of my best friends are service members. Lots of love there.

With that said, nothing infuriates me more than when soldiers are picked on for anything, much less the support of their Commander-in-Chief. I mean, he's the boss. There's a lot those soldiers have to deal with - especially in the middle east - having a problem with the person in office would make their time in the service that much harder.

Before anyone gets upset, I get probably most of those in the military 1) aren't political 2) don't care who is in office 3) it's about respecting the office 4) at the end of the day, they are fighting for the flag and for our freedoms - not just the president.

Although, there was a tweet of Press Secretary Sarah Sanders that went viral about a soldier who had a moment with President Trump. The tweet reads, "Powerful moment - Member of United States Army told the President he came back into the military because of him. And President Trump responded, "And I am here because of you." I met him after and he gave me the patch from his arm. Incredible."

While I continue updating you on the country, I'm sad to announce that the last living World War II veteran, Richard Overton, of Austin, Texas passed away today at his home. He was 112-years-old, and swore the secret to a long life were cigars and whiskey.

The government is still shutdown and the President continues kicking butt and showing who the fools are.

There is definitely more to discuss so I might do a special post this weekend since there wasn't a post on Wednesday due to Christmas. Enjoy the rest of your break!
