Life Lessons

What week it has been so far. Seriously. I feel like I say that every week, but life is so weird sometimes. The news has actually lost its mind and so have our elected officials. Things have gone haywire, and regular, every day Americans are just living their lives watching American politics figuratively burn to the grown.

Americans in general seem to be the culture that is so fast-paced that we have a hard time counting our blessings, being thankful for the little things in life, pushing ourselves in every area of life, and getting outside our comfort zone.

We are in the last week of January, and by this point, most have given up on any new years resolutions. If you haven't, then I sincerely applaud you. This post isn't to preach, or beat a dead horse about goals. It's to discuss life lessons when you're a 20-something trying to find your place in this massive, wild world.

The lessons we learn now can either help mold us into the people we are meant to become, or you won't learn them, and in some cases will live a life of "what if". That, to me, at this point, is the scariest thing ever.

So, life lesson number one:

1. If it's important to you, you will do it: this can go for literally anything in your life - assignments, work, exercise, eating well, calling that friend, even down to making your dreams happen.

2. Time management: I'm not sure if this technically is a life lesson, but if you master it early in your life, it seems like you'll be set. Time is so precious, and most people are pretty selfish with it. If you are able to manage yours well, it looks good to employers and can help your loved ones feel like they have a place in your busy schedule when you make time in your craziness.

3. Just do it: whether it's grabbing that extra cup of coffee, asking that question in class, taking that really cool but scary job - if you are getting that gut feeling that you need to do something, then just do it. We get those feelings for a reason - to do them.

Hopefully these simple, but sometimes really hard lessons have inspired you to live a little bigger, but organized.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
